Namadu Epicenter Viewer Lite is an App that displays earthquake catalogs collected by high sensitivity seismographs on the map. This App has the following features:
- Epicenters that have occurred in Japan since January 1, 1995, can be displayed at any time and place.
- Easy-to-understand visualization of changes in earthquake occurrence frequency by slider operation. Automatic playback is also available.
- Configurable magnitude and depth range to be displayed.
- The hypocenter information sources are the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) Unified Processing Hypocenter Catalog and the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) Preliminary Catalog by the Hi-net Automatic System.
- This App contains ads provided by a third party advertiser (AdMob). Without ads, paid version "Namadu Epicenter Viewer" is also available.
Limitations
- Only earthquakes that occurred in or near Japan after January 1, 1995, can be handled.
- The information available to users is only the epicenter circles overlaid on the map and its brief information (time, longitude, latitude, and magnitude). The original epicenter information (numeric list) is not provided by this App. If you need them, please refer to the JMA and NIED websites.
- Some source elements may be removed during processing.
- There is a limit to the number of epicenters that can be processed simultaneously. If the number of epicenters exceeds the limit, due to the long target period or a large number of earthquake swarms, epicenters with small magnitude values may not be displayed.
- Additional information, such as errors included in the original epicenter element is not reflected. The center of the epicenter circle on the map does not accurately represent the actual epicenter location. Please refer to the source data to know the accurate epicenter information.
Notes
- This App gets epicenter information via iCloud Drive. You need to set up a valid iCloud account on the device and make the network connection available.
- Depending on app settings, bookmarks are stored on your iCloud private storage and can be shared among your other devices.

- This App uses hypocenter information that is regularly acquired and processed from information sources. Due to some unexpected cause, there is a possibility that the original information can not be acquired temporarily or the information cannot be reflected on iCloud. Furthermore, please be aware that the provision of the latest epicenter information may be suspended without prior notice if the epicenter information cannot be acquired permanently from the information source due to any unforeseen circumstances.
